Introducing the Fine Art of the Side Hustle …

Side hustles are not new, so they don’t really need an introduction. They are, however, just being introduced to certain groups and generations. No problem there – not only are there more than enough hustles to go around but sharing the concept is literally sharing the wealth. A side hustle can be nearly anything you do – wait for it – on the side. You usually do it in addition to a full-time or part-time job, either because you need extra money or because you’re disenchanted with your main job. Maybe both. The thing is, if you’re very good at what you do and know how to market your brand, your side hustle can eventually become your primary hustle, your One True Job, the thing that makes you happy and gets you paid.

Can you cut hair like nobody’s business? Offer your services to friends, family members, and colleagues – on the cheap, of course. Do you enjoy refinishing, refurbishing, or upcycling old furniture? Start trolling yard sales and antique shops for cheap but quirky pieces and sell your wares. Open an Etsy store if you’re good at cute, crafty things. Turn to freelancing. Get a job as a virtual assistant in your downtime. You can write ebooks, pursue graphic design, or work as a photographer. Just think about what you’re good at and what you enjoy doing, then think up a way to make money with it.

What’s the purpose? Everything. You’re making extra money, which you can put into savings, use to pay off bills, or you can use it as seed money to start your own business. Every day, you should be hustlin’.
